Best Hotel
Homestay
Capella isn’t technically an old Goan house but, quite honestly, you’d be hard pressed to find a more charming house in Goa. The warm yellow walls, wide verandahs, bathrooms you could quite happily live in and an infinity pool. Best of all, this isn’t some chain hotel with a touch-me-not vibe and snotty staff. Instead there is an “honesty bar” and a smiling family greeting you over breakfast on the verandah.
WHY YOU LIKE IT
- The beautiful garden with frangipani, gul mohar, mango and jambul trees that are home to visiting magpie robins, babblers, sunbirds, golden crickets, peacocks, and golden-backed woodpeckers.
- The fact that there are lots of things to do in the homestay itself – like watching a movie from the personal collection, reading a book in the library, taking a dip in the pool and cuddling the many pets.
